We have been to Burmese House numerous times and have not been disappointed. The food is full of flavour - I have not had a dish that I would consider disappointing in any way. Friends who went for the first time last night were equally impressed with all on offer food and friendly service. Carl Ridgeway November 24th, 2015
Nice atmosphere lovely staff and the lamb curry was delicious! Thank you anonymous November 24th, 2015
A decade of brilliance I think I've been coming to Burmese House for close to a decade. It was brilliant then, and it's still one of my favourite places to drop by for a casual meal. A family-run restaurant, the service is friendly and unpretentious. The food - particularly the curries an stir-fries - is bursting with flavour. I like hot food, and when you order hot at Burmese House, you get HOT. The tamarind lamb is one of my all-time favourites. You can BYO wine and they're also licensed, so it's handy if you just want one glass of wine. A night out at Burmese House is the equivalent of a gastronomic hug for me, I always leave happy and content! Keep up the great work guys, and I'll see you again when next in Melbourne. Still perfection! Haven't been to this restaurant for a very long time and turned out to be well worth the wait. Having in the past been one of our regular haunts, it was great to see the same faces and the same quality of food. Cannot go pass their fried chickpea fritters, roti with split pea sauce or any of the mains (particularly the basil beef and chicken with cashew). Cannot recommend this restaurant enough- absolutely delicious!! Source

Cheerful service, tasty food With a group of friends, we found something for everyone, starting with naan and chickpea dip, we enjoyed the tea leaf salad and a variety of noodle and rice dishes for main course. Quite distinct flavors and generous serves of the main courses, there are also a number of curries on the menu. The wine list is limited and when we visited, the restaurant was licensed for BYO wine only, with beers on the menu. Definitely a good place for a casual meal. Visited February 2015 Source

Delicate, fragrant, delicious! It is so NICE to be able to write an uncompromisingly positive review! We met friends here who had not been back for 15 years, but had a great food experience then. And we did, too. Mein host was very helpful with food suggestions, all of which blended perfectly. The entree salads were superb, as were the chicken, lamb, fish and beef dishes. For around $30 a head it was well worth it. We will definitely return, if we can. Source

We were looking for a nice place to catch up with some old friends ,that was not too noisy, as conversation was the focus of the planned evening. It was an incredibly hot night and staff apologised for not putting us upstairs as it would have been very hot although possibly a little quieter . Although the restaurant seemed full, we were not cramped and the sound levels were fine.We had a table by the window with a fan. We brought our own wine and had a very filling meal for $26 a head including coffee.Staff were able to recommend dishes and advise on mildmedium curries etc .Loved the eggplant curry. Will definitely go back. Source

Mimi (chef) is the loveliest person you will ever meet, she cooks lovely authentic Burmese food. Our favorite dishes are the yellow split pea with roti, the deep fried marrow with tamarind, the lamb masala, the chicken with chillies and any of the noodle dishes. Particularly good after a big weekend. There is hardly any fat in her cooking and the meals are full of vegetables to re-charge your batteries. You are given the option of how much heat you would like in the dishes which is handy if you like it hot (like we do). Source

This was our second visit and it was even better than last time. We brought friends along to share the friendly waiting staff's recommendations. For entre we chose the tea leaf salad, sliced marrow wtamarind dip and rotiwchick pea dip, which was enough for 4 to share. This was followed by ginger lamb, beef wyellow split pea and chilli chicken wcashew. All the dishes were great choices with their unique subtle flavour and it left us all fighting for the last serves. Highly recommended and will be returning again. Thank you. Source

We chose to eat here randomly on Sat night, and we are so glad we did. For just under $50 dollars we shared an entree and 2 mains with rice. An absolute bargain. We had chick pea patties (5 per serve) with a light tamarind dipping sauce. Soooo good! This was followed by lovely chicken salad, which had small pieces of grilled chicken breast and juliened vegies with a very tasty light sauce and we also shared stir fry beef with green chilli. This actually was a little like a beef stew, so a bit of a surprise, but the flavours of the two mains combined nicely together. We could chose to have the dishes mild, med or hot. We will be back! YUM! Source

Having just come back from a trip to Burma, my husband wanted to take me out to experience the cuisine. This restaurant was really lovely, lots of wood and chic photos lining the walls. The kitchen is at the entrance and you can see the food being cooked. We had a really yummy meal. Noodle dishes were around $15 and mains ranged from $20 - $30. Source

Pleasant, bright and spacious setting (we were upstairs) and served by friendly staff. Service was not fast but not slow and made it an enjoyable evening. They had run out 24 of the entrees so we made had the tea leaf salad which was surprisingly, different and refreshing. For mains the Myanmar egg noodle with chicken curry was very flavoursome and Lamb Tamarind which something new to try. $65 for 2 with drinks. Source

Had never had Burmese food before. It was really interesting - kind of mirrored the country's location. It was similar to Thai, but without the coconut in the curries. There was the rotis and dahls of India and Malaysia. I really liked it. Almost everything on the menu was gluten free (aside from the roti and some noodles) and the manager really understood what he was talking about. My kids (5 and 7) loved the roti and dahl dip. I enjoyed the Burmese salads, which were quite unlike anything I've had before. Yum! The fish curry we had was expensive $27, but had a lot of fish in it - two large fillets, I'd say. It was also delicious. Also, when we asked for some dishes to be spicy (we love spicy food), we were taken seriously, which doesn't always happen. All in all, a great restaurant. If we lived closer, we'd eat there regularly. Source

I chose to go to Burmese ouse with a few friends. I had been there before, but not for a while. I had forgotten just how good the food was. A cross between Thai and Indian but with more flavour and very fresh. Tamarind is the star. The staff are very helpful and friendly and you can see the cooking happen in front if you in the open kitchen. The tamarind lamb, mandelay mout te (noodles with chicken, tamarind and others) plus stir fried fish were simply awesome. Everyone wants to go again!! Source
